Mistress 2013 Round Up Part 3: Late Autumn- Mid Winter

The WCSA Autumn Festival came round once more and after our many daily prizes in the Summer festival we were determined to go in all guns blazing and target big fish that would get in the daily and overall prizes.
The quantity and size of the ling caught on Mistress during the festival was second to none with lots of double figure fish setting a very high standard in the competition.
Personal bests were smashed, tackle was tested to capacity and once again Mistress brought some fine fish to the weigh in- peaking with the 1st overall prize in the festival going to P Harrison from Rochdale with this cracking 21lb 11.5oz ling.

Along with the winner there were plenty daily prizes as the big ling kept coming aboard.
Another exceptional specimen was this 20lb 4.5oz beauty that certainly got the adrenaline pumping for its captor Gary from Whitby.

Plenty more doubles were boated giving Mistress a total of 4 daily prize winners and 2 daily 1st prizes including the festival winner that netted its captor the £1000 top prize.

October saw the inshore water colour up which and we started our increasingly popular uptiding trips.
The short steams to the prolific inshore cod marks off Whitby provided some great angling for seasoned fishermen and beginners alike.
Codling of between 2-5lb provided consistent sport but there were more than a few better specimens alongside them coming to baits such as lugworm, cart, squid and combinations of all three at different times.

The good uptiding sport continued up until New Year- proving that this type of fishing is sure to be an increasingly popular part of the Whitby boat fishing calender.
