In keeping with our forward thinking approach, a couple of gaps in the weather meant we could try a spot of night time uptiding out of Whitby.
As the regions many shore anglers know- cod fishing at night can be exceptionally productive and while these were experimental trips the results were very encouraging.
First trip out saw a few regulars and locals set sail at the convenient time of 5PM with the intention of fishing the flood tide until 10PM.
Despite the constant rain and lack of sea colour the lads took a total of 23 codling, a strap ling and a whiting.

We got fish everywhere we stopped and had plenty more bites too, with the usual cod baits of lug, squid and cart working a treat.

If the idea of night time uptiding appeals to you then give Rich a call on 07977 436903. It would be preferable if you have previous experience of night fishing as safety is always the number one priority. In addition you will need the right equipment including a reliable headlamp (and preferably a backup), warm waterproof clothing, stout footwear and a flask of hot drink isn’t a bad idea either.
